Hatch

Hatching is applied in landscape designs to indicate paving, mulching, decking, etc. Several entities can form the area to be hatched, but it must be a closed space. The HATCH command is used to start the process, a selection from a series of hatch patterns is made, the scale of patterning is adjusted, and the selected zone is hatched. The hatch patterns come from a file with the extension .pat. Hatching in gCADPlus works with AutoCAD hatch pattern files; many of these are available for download on the Internet. The figure below shows a design in which hatching has been applied to indicate lawn and vegetable areas.

Hatch example

The HATCH command can be activated in several ways:

  • Activate the Draw drop-down menu and select Hatch.
  • Type the HATCH command at the keyboard or,
  • Pick the Hatch icon from the Draw toolbar.

Using Hatch We answer a question regarding hatching shapes with shapes in landscape drawings. We create a simple combination of a circle inside a polygon inside a second circle, and run through the options in the HATCH command.
